12/25/13: 2013 YEAR IN REVIEW [BY MONTH]

2013 is closing and it has been a big year full of big things. From the government and Obama with their epic fail on the Affordable Care Act and the worldwide Internet trend Harlem Shake-ing to the twerking and all the hype about Pope Francis and Edward Snowden, it's a year to be remembered.

Every month, something BIG happened.

Bad or good, I will choose the most major event from each month of the year to highlight the important events that will stay preserved in the Year of the Snake.

January
16-20: Mokhtar Belmokthar and his group of al-Qaeda-linked terrorists hold more than 800 people hostage in a gas facility near In Amenas, Algeria. After a couple of days, Algerian special forces fought to free the hostages, and freed most of the them, except for 39 international workers, one security guard, as well as many militants and Algerian workers.

February
15: In Chelyabinsk, Russia, the most powerful meteor to enter Earth's atmosphere in over a century explodes in the sky in a rain of flame the rang and loud boom through the air and left thousands of buildings damaged and thousands of people injured in its destruction. Will even bigger and stronger meteors strike our Earth and destroy us all? The world wants to know.

March
13: Argentinan Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio is elected as the 266th pope in the Catholic Church, taking the name Pope Francis.

April
2: Near the end of the Boston Marathon in Boston, Massachusetts, two Islamist brothers bomb the area, killing 3 and injuring over 200, leading to an intense investigation deeper into the month and using the powers of surveillance, the police force eventually tracked down the guilty criminals.

May
15: Scientists and researchers from Oregon Health & Science University describe creating the first human cloned cell, the embryonic stem cell in an article in Nature.

June
14-30: You may think I'm going to talk about Edward Snowden, but no, I'm going to talk about horrible floods and mudslides in India, killing more than 5,000 and trapping more than 20,000.

July
3: After huge protests filled with the angry words and brutal violence all throughout Egypt, President Mohammad Morsi is put in a military coup d'etat.

August
25: The year's spotlight celebrity train wreck, Miley Cyrus, revolutionizes the twerk and shows that she knows how to still inspire kids by licking hammers and riding half-naked on wrecking balls in her new song and new music video that has spawned a wide range of attention, but no one pays attention to the lyrics, which actually make for a pretty good song.

September
21-In Nairobi, Kenya at the Westgate mall, a terrorist attack by Islamic soldiers from al-Shabaab leads around 60 dead and over 150 injured.

October
Last month and all throughout: Ylvis's "What Does the Fox Say?" spawns all throughout the Internet and hits the climax of its popularity as the biggest viral trend of this year. With weird but original and interesting lyrics, auto-tune, a good beat, a funny and entertaining music video, and millions and millions of views, this sure was a highlight in the pop culture.

November
8: The horrible and tragic destruction of Typhoon Hayian leaves millions homeless, millions dead, millions injured, and millions worldwide to raise awareness to help rehabilitation in the Philippines and Vietnam.

December
14: The first Chinese spacecraft and rover, Chang'e 3 and Yutu, land on the moon, making it a major defeat for China in its space program and its progression to journey outside of the world.

What was the biggest thing for YOU in 2013?
