As I type this, I am in a really nice hotel in Siem Reap, Cambodia, on an adventure of a lifetime to go back and experience by home country and my birth land.
After a couple days on a plane, with some major issues, like almost missing our most important flight, 14 hours, from Chicago to Seoul, after missing our flight in Kansas City due to being late. But with everything almost settled, except for luggage, which will get here soon, I am happy to say that my first day in Cambodia was an incredible sight to see and an amazing opening welcome to my full 10-day experience.
Today we woke up at 7:30 AM, ate breakfast in the dining room, and then hopped on a bus to go to the National Silk Farm. There, we learned how silk and cloth is made, starting from silkworms eating mulberry leaves to adding color, turning them into beautiful blankets, scarves, and clothes.
I tried a newly-cooked silkworm there! It tasted like a soft but sour pea.
Then we went to see students making art at the Artisans Angkor art school.
After that, we ate lunch at a nice restaurant and drove up to the temples to ride on elephants. It was really fun and cool to be on top of that creature, waving to people below and snapping pictures of various temples we passed along the way.
I can't wait for what tomorrow has in store!
