12/24/13: TOP 5 CHRISTOPHER NOLAN MOVIES!

The director of original (well, except for The Dark Knight trilogy), extremely overrated, and often complicated films with big stars, over-the-top action sequences, and lack of comedy, Christopher Nolan and his films have made a big impression on our generation, creating memorable works that have led to multiple parodies, inspired others, and entertained us with his long-running-time movies.

So here are the top 5 movies by Christopher Nolan.

5) The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

Rating: 7.5/10
Does This Show What Christopher Nolan Can Really Do? Yes, but not his best.

Without Nolan directing an epic trilogy based on a popular superhero from the DC Universe, we would've never seen the caped crusader in a new light. The Dark Knight Rises, his most recent film, focuses on my favorite villain of Batman, Bane, with Catwoman, a suspected-but-not-dressed-like-Robin Robin, and, of course, the dark knight himself all battling it out in this movie full of a somewhat rushed and controversial ending, over if Batman/Bruce Wayne died or not, well thought-through action sequences, good acting, Christian Bale's deep voice, and that dark feeling of menace that falls not only over Gotham City, but the audience in the theater, especially when we follow Bane and his journey to blow up the city.

4) Memento (2000)

Rating: 8/10
Does This Show What Christopher Nolan Can Really Do? Definitely. His plot twist makes him the new M. Night Shyamalan.

Leonard suffers from short-term memory loss and he uses notes to track down the man suspected of raping and killing his wife. Played in reverse, this film is compelling, interesting, and original, with a plot twist that surprised us all, showing that Christopher Nolan is a genius of a filmmaker, with his creative ideas, complicated plots, and his way of leaving us to be both confused and entertained at the same time.

3) The Prestige (2006)

Rating: 8.5/10
Does This Show What Christopher Nolan Can Really Do? Definitely. I love magic tricks now.

This movie has everything: The American Psycho, Wolverine, and magic all in one. This follows Robert and Alfred, two magicians, that end up battling each other by trying to perform the ultimate illusion. With well-thought-through visuals and special effects, normal Nolan-complexity, great acting and writing, and dark drama, this film is original and intense in the way the director does perfect and that we've come to know and love.

2) Inception (2010)

Rating: 9/10
Does This Show What Christopher Nolan Can Really Do? Oh yeah. I couldn't see any other director directing this the way Nolan did.

Extremely overrated, with big stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and known and remembered for its over-the-top complexity, never before did we see how smart the director could be, producing and writing this film, coming up with the idea and the plot, and then putting his masterful direction skills to work to create an epic film of our generation. Dreams have never been seen as complicated and action-packed as before, with an original storyline, awesome soundtrack, and well-thought-through special effects instead of over-the-top CGI messes in most action films. With good acting, good writing, and a movie that makes you feel dumb, once again, Christopher Nolan displays his way of leaving us both confused and entertained simultaneously.

1) The Dark Knight (2008)

Rating: 9.5/10
Does This Show What Christopher Nolan Can Really Do? Obviously.

The second and best installment in Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy, this offers us a darker, more intense, better-acted, better thought-through, and better-action-packed look on Batman and his legendary battle with his most famous villain that is The Joker, played by Heath Ledger, who's role is famous after his death after his incredible performance as the ruthless psychotic criminal mastermind. Sure, it might not be entirely true to the comics, or be unrealistic and rushed at times, but it definitely showed how dark Christopher Nolan can make his films just by the writing, as well as pushing his actors to recite them at their best. The amazing soundtrack, great acting, great writing, and entertaining sequences of action, drama, and even romance make this Christopher Nolan's best film.
