5/2714: X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST REVIEW! (Spoil Free)

Standing in front of the movie theater, I had one of most difficult decisions of my life: go see a radioactive lizard that crushed the box office or an action-packed, surprisingly mind-bending superhero extravaganza.

I decided to go see the action-papcked, surprisingly mindbending superhero extravaganza, also known as X-Men: Days of Future Past.

I saw this movie with my friend Alexey, and we both enjoyed it, although no movie is perfect, so there were some mystiques! (for those who don't understand that reference, one of the main mutants is named Mystique, who's a shapeshifter, and it's a play on "mistakes)

***FOR A SPOILED VERSION*** Go check out me and Alexey's review here.

Here's my review:

Brief Plot Overview: The mutant race has been left to only a few isolated individuals, who so happen to be together as the X-Men, with mutants including Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Storm (Halle Berry), and Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page). The government plans to exterminate the mutants once and for all, sending in these giant walking machines with special mutant DNA obtained from Msytique (Jennifer Lawerance) in the past when she assassinated the creator of th
ese giant mutant-obliterating machines, Dr. Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage), and was captured for these DNA samples. Her DNA helped construct these machines, making them adapt to any mutant power to slaughter them. After the X-Men lose to these invencible robots, Kitty Pryde, who's power is sending people back in time, sends the group back before the attack, then Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and Magneto (Ian McKallen) send Wolverine back in time to warn the early X-Men, with mutants such as The Beast (Nicholas Hoult) and Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), to warn them about Mystique and her plans to assassinate Dr. Trakes and his plan to create this army of robots that target and destroy mutants so she isn't captured and her DNA doesn't make the program expand, effecting the future X-Men. But young Magneto (Michael Fassbender) has his own way of stopping this.

What I Liked About It: As of every recent Marvel movie, the special effects, sound, and CGI is still quite amazing, making the movie look pretty awesome. The plot is compelling and surprisingly mindbending, involving a newer and more creative look at time travel. The action scenes were well-made and all the characters were likeably unique in personality and powers. The movie is different from most superhero films, with interesting twists caused by the mix between past and future, complicated concepts, and multiple villains. Nice directorial job Bryan Singer.

What I Disliked About It: The movie went on longer than it should have, and the very ending wasn't neccessary at all. Near the end, they still had a few loose ends that hadn't been tied up, leaving you with some questions, including some characters and how they turn out and how certain things effect other things. I don't want to be too specific to avoid spoiling, but it just doesn't wrap very well in my opinion. I don't think the writers did the best job connecting everything together, leaving some pretty important and not well-examined details to vanish and unneccessary ambiguity.
