Warning: I will not try to do spoilers, but just in case, skip through some parts of this review. :)
World War Z is an action thriller based on the 2006 novel by Max Brooks of the same name. This movie stars Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane, a former United Nations officer who is trying to settle down to be a family man, with his wife, Karin, played by Mireill Enos, and his two daughters. While in rush hour traffic downtown one day, all hell breaks loose when an unexpected turn happens living Gerry and his family on a fight for survival. Most of the movie involves Gerry as he goes back with the UN, the last remaining hope against an unknown zombie outbreak, as he goes to fight and find a cure to stop the loss of most of the world's population.
This movie is not like any other zombie movie before. Reckon I have not seen many zombie movies, this is not a "Walking Dead" or George A. Romero zombie movie. This is more like a "28 Weeks Later" zombie movie, where the zombies can run and jump, and basically bite humans, turning them into the undead. There was basically no blood, gore, or guts in this movie, which I thought fit perfectly, because I don't know how this film would be with those things.
World War Z is an intense film throughout, leaving you on the edge of the seat. It's packed with action and suspense, and a few jump-scares that will make you jump out of your seat. The story might be unoriginal, but is played really well. The most intense parts of the film are in the last hour of the movie, when Gerry is in the World Health Organization Research Center and has to sneak around and try to find drugs to make a cure while zombies are all around.
Even so, the movie did have some confusing parts. One scene was where there were zombies on the plane, and that didn't make any sense, because there weren't any zombies to start with. Maybe someone was infected on the plane, I have no idea, but if there was an Easter Egg in there, leave in the comments below.
Also, the film left you with many questions, and it never really tied things up at the end, which probably hints at a sequel of some sort, which I hope doesn't happen, because, Hollywood, come up with real ideas.
Overall, World War Z was an intense action thriller packed with intensity and also some feelings of loss of trust, hope, death, and loneliness. I'd give World War Z a....
