Despicable Me 2 is an animated comedy film by Illumination Entertainment set as the sequel to the 2010 Illumination Entertainment animated film Despicable Me. This film follows the life of Gru [voiced by Steve Carell], a former villain, who is now a family man with his three adopted girls, Margo [voiced by Mirando Cosgrove], Edith [voiced by Dana Gaier], and Agnes [voiced by Elsie Fisher], and, of course, all his minions. But now he's facing goals to create jams and jellies instead of rulin
g the world with evil plans. That's until he runs into Lucy [voiced by Kristin Wiig], who's part of the Anti-Villain League to track down a drug used to make things invincible. Then Gru and Lucy find out there's a guy behind this madness, and he's El Macho [voiced by Benjamin Bratt], one of the most dangerous villains of all time.
This was definitely not as good as the first one, but it was pretty entertaining anyway. There was a lot more humor, as you saw more of the minions, as they cracked many jokes in languages you didn't understand, and some jokes, even when they were really immature, you couldn't help but smile. There was also more action, as Gru and Lucy try to defeat El Macho.
The animation was better, and was more visually real, as the same in Monsters University, and it still had the same style as the first one. Speaking of the first one, you'd definitely have to see the first one to really understand the second one, this one, because the story continues, there's still the same characters, and things relating to the first one.
Only things wrong with the movie was there were some confusing parts, and I thought some parts were rushed, especially in the middle, when they had a lot of things going on, and wanted to just end it all. But even with that risky move, the makers seemed to wrap it all up at the end, and even when some parts of the movie were like, "What? Huh? Does that make sense? Will we see it again?" I could understand what the makers were doing in only wrapping up the most important parts.
Overall, this family-friendly animated comedy film did have lack of a good, touching, but still humorous story like the first one, but it was good for laughs and wanting to see how Gru's life was like after he became a family man. I'd give Despicable Me 2 a....
